hashing out our problems/ blog2

In our last couple of weeks of class we discussed topics such as: socializing online and hyper personal interactions. Learning about the two subjects made me relate to both of them and also correlate them to #hastivism. As time carries on, face to face communication decreases; this is because how much we have a habit of to using online websites to communicate. Online websites like Facebook and things of that nature. We have emails, instant messenger and the world famous imessages. Apple is a company that creates many products, laptop, cell phones, ipads, etc. All of these devices create a way for you to connect your gmail account (if you have one) and this allows you to be able to send imessages to any other apple user if they’re connected to the internet. Anyways that’s enough about apple; online communication has its pros and its cons, just like other stuff. A positive about socializing online is the access to communicating with friends and family members that are miles away from you and still being able to maintain a relationship with them while being apart. A negative can be the outcome of society deceasing face to face communication for good.
Hyperpersonal communication has four factors; sender, receiver, channel and feedback loop. Hyperperonal communication is subject on how CMC tops face to face communication. All of this brings me to why I will engage in talking about #hashtivism. Hashtivism also known as hashing out our problems is a way of people all over the world engaging in world problems and coming together. Does this really make an impact on the problems that are recognized worldwide? I think it does not and people only notice things for just the beginning and then it eventually dies down and society forgets. Are the problems eventually deceased? I would think not, individuals on social media are like followers; they recognized something that everyone else is doing and then decide to partake in the situation. For example Michelle Obama posted a picture of herself with a sign hash tagging #bringbackourgirls. Michelle Obama did this to acknowledge the 276 Nigerian girls who were captured from their school in Chibok by a militant group regarded as “Boko Haram”. However, this went viral and millions of people throughout the world acknowledged the cause as well but of course nothing last forever and this died down.

Hacktivism is the act of hacking, or breaking into a computer system, for political or social motivated purposes. These two differ because hashtivism is more of bringing worldwide problems to the light and to let it be recognized. These two are similar because they both have to do with social media. People all over the world engage in hastivism; celebrities, politics and just ordinary people. You can sit on your couch and participate if you have some electronic device that allows you to go on social networks. I do believe hashtivism can create change in a way because it allows people to be aware of issues they had no knowledge of even if its temporarily it still was brought to attention.
