In the past thirty years the history of the internet has drastically changed. Just in the past decade or so, socializing online was made available to users worldwide. Whether this is through video games, or online dating sites, or even just video chatting a friend. Most of these new online socializing websites or apps, are now more media rich than before, this just means while communicating with someone you get there entire picture. This includes personality, what they look like, and how they act. An example of this is skype, or video chat.

I believe this kind of technology and media is a positive impact on people and the development of technology. It allows for new ideas and for new things for people to try. Maybe face-to-face communication for people to begin on is hard, online dating gives them that chance to get to know the person before actually meeting up with them. This is also a good idea because now it brings an attire new way of communication into the world. Maybe instead of just face-to-face or email, people can now chat and exchange pictures relatively fast, and get to know someone in a totally different way. Someone may argue against me and say that now since we have this kind of communication it is more dangerous. Predators now have the upper hand and can pose as someone they are not. Also if the person you’re talking to makes you feel comfortable you can give up information that you might not have wanted out.

All my experiences that I have had with socializing online have been positive. It started with video games. I would get on my Xbox live and play Call of Duty. We would be playing the game but also socializing about random stuff like school, girls, and what they did that day. You would get to know the people you were playing with, this includes where they are from, how old they are, and just learn about who they are. Once I got into college my video game playing dwindled because I was so busy with other things. Social media sites took over like tinder, whisper, ect. I have met some pretty cool people on these sites, and some of them have became my good friends. The chatting might have started off slow and since we were unfamiliar with each other and not face to face  a little timid to tell each other things. Eventually that passed and we can pretty much share anything with each other. Those are the reason why I think socializing online is such a positive thing, at least for me it is. I love meeting new people and getting to know them.
